DESCRIPTION : August 26, 2020 coming next year will mark the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, granting women the right to vote. However, the required number of States have yet to ratify this Amendment in their State so that this Amendment can be finally ratified in our United States Constitution. As the group Indivisible Suffragists explains, almost 100 years after gaining the right to vote, women are now faced with the most openly misogynist, regressive, bigoted, corrupt and dangerous administration in United States history. We need to show Congress that there is broad resistance to Trump’s agenda. Join us. The predominate voting demographic in the United States currently happens to be women. The date of August 26th was purposefully chosen to rally the voting base for the future 2020 election. Many women in the United States were granted the right to vote on August 26, 1920 when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was certified as law, but not all. Thus in 1971, August 26th became designated as “Women’s Equality Day” in America to support all women becoming equal in the ongoing advocacy of their rights. Please invite and help us to organize this historic Event in a safe, legal and peaceful manner to rally the voting base, uplifting ALL Indivisible Groups across the United States, in solidarity of equality as we commemorate the countdown to the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment in 2020.
NOTE : Although this event is in the late afternoon, it is important that all Marchers participating bring water and prepare for the summer heat with lightweight clothing and hats. We will provide Legal Observers and volunteers with Marshal Training, however if applicable, we ask that ALL Marchers avoid conversation with any Trump Supporters that may observe to prevent conflict. LAPD will assist with closing streets for the Rally and March. Marchers will be expected by LAPD to disperse at the end of the Indivisible March at Pershing Square where the METRO is located. All kinds of food will be available at the Grand Central Market at 317 S. Broadway between 3rd and 4th Sts. with access also from Hill St.
